UDStats - Statistical monitoring of the grid.org

Before I Start

Please not that this programme is beta software. I do not accept liability for damages to you computer by usage of this programme.

Installing the programme

Since you are reading this text, you have already opened the zip file. Now move/copy the programme to any directory (folder) on the hard disk you like. Run the programme (double click). If you have the grid.org programme in another directory than the default one (C:\Program Files\United Devices) you will need to click away the error message, press the "Settings..." button, choose the "Directories" tab and correct the path of the "UD Agent Location".

Having the programme start with windows

I only have a Win98SE box, so I don't know if this works on other windows flavours: Drag the UDStats.exe programme to the StartUp folder in the Start Menu (usually Start Menu->Programs->StartUp). If you whish you can rename the link you just created (right-click, then "Rename").

Win95:
RIGHT-drag the UDStats.exe programme to the C:\windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\ folder and choose "Create Shortcut(s) here" from the menu. If you whish you can rename the link you just created (right-click, then "Rename").

Uninstalling

Delete the UDStats.exe and StatsTempFile.dat files. (If you can't find them use Start->Find->Files or Folders.)

If necessary, delete the link in the StartUp folder of the Start Menu. (Win98: Right-click on the link and select Delete)

If you don't like poking in the registry, stop here (leaving registry keys behind will not hurt your computer). Otherwise, use Start->Run...; enter regedit and press enter. Now find the "folder" HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->UDStats. Delete the ENTIRE UDStats "folder", but leave the other folders alone. Close the programme regedit.

Know Bugs

When you run this programme without the grid.org agent running the gathered statistics is absolute nonsense.
The UDStats takes up system resources. The measured time between will be slightly longer than when you were not running the programme. This problem is simply unavoidable.
