My name is Hans Oskam and live in Bilthoven The Netherlands I would like to have reactions from you concerning this story and, if possible, additions. In case you have photos of the persons mentioned in this family tree, please send these per e-mail. My e-mail address is joskam(a)casema.nl (replace (a) with @ to send an e-mail)
In 1999 I started to build the family tree of the Oskams. focused on that part which comes from ca 1570 up till me, Hans Oskam born in 1953. Calculated from ca. 1570 I am generation number fifteen. On this site I give a short edition of this family tree. The way I have written this down, is as follows: First the names of all the Oskams starting from ca 1570 onwards till now. (Name, date of birth, date of death, marriaged with who and the children.
Starting with my grand-grand-grandfather Jan, born in 1798, I have collected some more information. Also a likely story of one of his children, Teunis, born in 1838, my grand-grandfather. Then the story of his son, Adrianus, born in 1871 (my grandfather), and finally the story of his son, my father, Pieter, born in 1905 in Woerden. Total number of pages of the complete story is about 30. Besides that I have scanned a lot of photos and stored them in a Word document. The oldest photo is from 1866. And I have a lot of mourning cards stored in Word documents and several official documents. (For instance the announcement of birth done by Jan and Maria Oskam in 1832). The first name of living in history is Ameide, located on the river Rhine in Holland. After that Lopikerkapel, IJsselstein, Harmelen, Oudenrijn, Woerden, Mijdrecht, Nieuwkoop, Kamerik. (At least for those Oskams who, starting about 1570, are in direct line with me).

Birth data of the children of Teunis Pieter comes from a part of the family tree of the Van Bemmel family.
Teunis and his wife lived on a farm in Amersfoort, this farm was property of the first husband of Jacoba de Kruijf, later on wife of Jan Oskam.
Pieter Oskam, son of Adrianus, has bought a horse from this Teunis.
(Teunis was born during the reign of King William I, eight years after the southern part was separated from the North. The southern part was renamed Kingdom of Belgium).
Adrianus Oskam, born May 24, 1871 in Harmelen.
In May 1872 he moved to Oudenrijn to a farm called Beefland.
Adrianus married March 25, 1897 with Bregje van Eijk, born December 5, 1869. The marriage took place in Woerden. Bregje was a daughter of Pieter van Eijk (born in 1828) and Geertruij van Schaijk.
This Pieter van Eijk was a son of Gerrit van Eijk, born in 1800 in Harmelen, and from Pietertje van Dam, born in 1797.
Pieter, the father of Bregje, died after 1902, because in that year he was signer on the rental contract for the farm rented by Adrianus in Woerden. The farm's name: Breeveld. Pieter's signature was high probably needed as an extra guarantee.
They left the city of Woerden on April 28, 1915.
Their last address in Woerden: Utrechtse Straatweg 44.
Erased was the address: Snel B nr 33. High probably the name "Snel" came from the polder Snel and Polanen and that B said that the address was outside the city, in this case outside the city of Woerden.
The farm named Hofstede Breeveld, is still there and is now known with the address Utrechtsestraatweg 100 (before 102a).
The name Breeveld is on the gate in front of the farm.
The farm is located on the edge of the Utrechtsestraatweg and the Cattenbroekerweg.
By the way, the farm lost its function already long time ago.
After that until 1935 they lived on two farms, first on a farm named "Smolensk" (year of construction 1887) in Blokland, a part of Mijdrecht, parish Zevenhoven.
In that area, there are more farms with russian names.
A former attorney had earned a lot of money with Russian shares, and from that money he bought several farms in Blokland giving them all Russian names like Riga, Odessa, Moscow, Smolensk.
Leaving "Smolensk", Adrianus went with his family to a farm in Nieuwkoop, address: Achttien Kavels.
Still saved from history, an envelope from a friend of Pieter Oskam, a son of Adrianus, sent in 1929 from Delhi, NY, which was addressed as follows: P. Oskam, Nieuwkoop. They moved from Blokland to the Achttienkavels May 8 1927.
In 1935, the family of Adrianus and Bregje moved to Kamerik, address A57, now Van Teijlingenweg 32, to a farm called Lena Hoeve.
The two farms in Blokland and in Nieuwkoop are still there, and still exist as a farm.
The farm in Kamerik lost its function in 1963.
